Insurance Claims in the San Gabriel Valley

Insurance Claims Free inspection. Honest report. No upsell.

Insurance claims for storm or wind damage can be confusing — and a poorly handled claim can leave you covering thousands out of pocket on a roof your policy should have paid for. The SGV network helps homeowners file claims, document damage for adjusters, and supplement claims when an adjuster's initial scope misses something. You only pay your deductible if the claim is approved for full replacement or repair.

When you need insurance claims

  • Storm, wind, or hail damage in the past 12 months
  • Fallen tree or debris damage
  • Adjuster has visited but you're unsure if the scope is complete
  • Claim was denied and you want a second opinion
  • First time filing — you want help navigating the process
  • Adjuster wrote up partial damage but missed major areas

What's included

  • Free pre-claim inspection with photo documentation
  • Damage report formatted for insurance submission
  • Adjuster meeting coordination — contractor present when adjuster visits
  • Supplement requests if adjuster scope is incomplete
  • Coordination through claim approval
  • Direct invoicing to insurance for the approved scope

What this costs

Pre-claim inspection and adjuster coordination are free. You pay your deductible if the claim is approved. The approved claim amount goes directly from insurance to the contractor.

How it works

  1. 1

    Free pre-claim inspection

The inspector documents storm or wind damage with photos and a written report — your evidence package for the claim.

  2. 2

    Help filing the claim

If you haven't filed yet, you get walked through the process. If you've already filed, the contractor steps in for the adjuster meeting.

  3. 3

    Adjuster meeting

The contractor meets the adjuster on-site to walk through damage findings together. This dramatically reduces missed scope.

  4. 4

    Supplement if needed

If the adjuster's report misses damage, the contractor files a supplement request with photo evidence to expand the approved scope.

  5. 5

    Repair or replacement

Once the claim is approved, work proceeds. The invoice goes directly to your insurance for the approved scope. You pay your deductible.

Insurance Claims — frequently asked

What types of damage does insurance typically cover?+

Most homeowners policies cover sudden, accidental damage from storms — wind, hail, fallen trees, and debris impact. Wear-and-tear, age-related deterioration, and pre-existing damage are typically NOT covered. Your inspector will tell you upfront whether your damage looks claim-eligible.

How long do I have to file after a storm?+

Most California policies require notice within 12 months of the damaging event, but earlier is always better — the longer you wait, the harder it is to prove the damage is from a specific storm rather than ongoing weathering.

What if my claim is denied?+

Denied claims can often be appealed with better documentation. The contractor can do a fresh inspection, document any missed damage, and help you file an appeal or supplement. Many initial denials are overturned with proper documentation.

Will using a contractor for my claim cost me anything?+

No — the inspection and adjuster coordination are free. You pay your deductible if the claim is approved, and the insurance company pays the contractor for the approved scope directly.

What is a 'supplement' and why does it matter?+

A supplement is an addition to an already-approved claim. Adjusters sometimes miss damage on a first visit — interior leaks, hidden flashing damage, decking rot under shingles. A supplement asks the insurance company to expand the approved scope based on new evidence. Supplements are common and often add thousands to the approved claim amount.

Should I get the claim approved before I pick a contractor?+

No — bring the contractor in BEFORE the adjuster meeting. A contractor present at the adjuster meeting can identify missed scope in real time, which is much harder to add later.

Can you help with claims for older damage I never filed?+

Possibly. If you can prove the damage is from a specific storm event within your policy's filing window (typically 12 months), there's still a path. The free inspection will document what's there and assess claim viability.
